Olympic swimming legend Dawn Fraser has purchased a share in Lifes A Dream, who is racing at Harold Park this Friday night. Dawn has partnered with Dick Caine who under his wife (Jenny Caine) has an amazingly good strike rate for a trainer that maintains a small team of high quality horses.
Dawn Fraser is thrilled to become part of the spectacle of Harness Racing and said she decided on which horse to become a shareholder in purely on their names. "I remember when I was a little girl, I had big dreams, so the horse Lifes A Dream, was an easy choice for me". My lifelong friendship with Dick and Jenny made it easy to buy into their newest syndication enterprise and I just love racing, all racing, on the water or the track.
The wine flowed freely this afternoon after the classy Holmes Hanover USA – Vanessa Franco NZ 2 year old filly saluted the judge on her debut race. Stable drive Ashlee Siejka drove the filly like a race car, taking runs, switching from behind slower runners and when presented with the tightest opening along the rails, she drove to the line in a determined fashion that suggests she knows how to find the line. Dick Caine immediately reassessed the value of the final share, and we really don't think the last chance to get into this readymade racehorse will last long.
Dick recently stated during an interview, "I believe harness racing has much to offer in enjoyment and family involvement at a small percentage of the cost of galloping yet harness people live in the shadow of the gallops."
Dick continued, "because of my involvement in major world sport all shareholders will not only have the fun, excitement and the enjoyment of racing a horse with us, but will also be invited as a team to attend sporting dinners and world title fights. You will also meet some sporting greats at our functions and BBQ's such as Dawn Fraser, John Raper, Jeff Fenech, Suzie Maroney, etc. Some of whom will also be share holders in our racing team."
Dick and Jenny are more famous for training elite sports athletes of the human variety and have for many years chosen to keep their equine training success in the realm of a private hobby, somewhere for them to escape to as they really love the sport and it acts as a method of renewal and reflection for them. Eventually however they have been worn down by numerous requests to own a harness racing horse with Dick and Jenny, because it is perceived that 'all their hard work' means they are 'lucky'.
Dick says, "It's little to do with luck and more to do with hard work", he goes on to say that, "friendships over a lifetime create bridges to network with and that leads to trustworthy relationships and opportunities". Dick is now going to offer shares for regular people to purchase in specially selected, 'nice horses' and if Dick and Jenny win, you win, it's as simple as that. Today's winner kicks off the new TEAM CAINE venture on a perfect winning score, "we are one for one, but have three tough races this Friday night at Harold Park", stated Dick today at the Bankstown track.
"Jenny and I have decided to give this a real go, we know that many hardworking Australians can never really afford to pay the full purchase price of a nice horse, so we are going to buy the horses and offer half to anyone that wants a share and we will retain the other half, plus as an act of goodwill, we will forgo all training fees for the first 12 months", continued Dick. "We know that it's the monthly fees that stop most average hardworking Australians, so I'll pick up the tab on that for a year, which should be more than long enough to see if the horse earns back their share purchase price".
Dick finished the interview by stating, "I just want to introduce new people to Harness Racing and if that means calling in a few favours from the many elite champions I have trained during my career, then so be it, once exposed to Harness Racing, I believe they will stick with it, and that is good for Harness Racing and good for me because without the 'Trots' I'd be lost for something to relax me". "I've had a website created to help me in this quest at www.dickcaine.com and every horse I own is up for shares, including Bad Cat which is an exciting individual that will be giving us all an early Christmas present in December".
